"One day it occurred to me that it had been many years since the world had been afforded the spectacle of a man adventurous enough to undertake a journey through Germany on foot. After much thought, I decided that I was a person fitted to furnish to mankind this spectacle. So I determined to do it. This was in March, 1878." Mark Twain, A Tramp Abroad

Yesterday's Highlights

1. Listening to the father discuss the Fulbright program in German on the radio (while keeping Penelope's hands from grabbing my earphones)

2. Successfully asking the bus driver in German for a week's bus pass

3. Changing the smelliest, nastiest diaper on the floor of the German school (I apologize to those who happened to walk by)

4. Eating a panini with the father on the steps of the Elizabeth fountain in the Marktplatz

5. Being the only visitor of the day to the Marburg Castle Museum (Penelope could make all the noise she wanted)

6. Sleeping for 7 uninterrupted hours (way to go Penelope!)

7. Waking up starving at 5 am and drinking juice straight out of the carton because all 4 of our glasses were dirty

8. Realizing that in less than a week we will be rid of the nasty Marburg dorms (Heidelberg, here we come!)
