"One day it occurred to me that it had been many years since the world had been afforded the spectacle of a man adventurous enough to undertake a journey through Germany on foot. After much thought, I decided that I was a person fitted to furnish to mankind this spectacle. So I determined to do it. This was in March, 1878." Mark Twain, A Tramp Abroad

Playing where the big kids play

"Hey, Penelope," I said. "Come here. I want to show you some place new."

"Okay, Mom. What is this thing?"

"This is the playground, Penelope. It's where the big kids play."

"Oh. What's this stuff on the ground, Mom?"

"That's called sand, Penelope."

"Hmm. It feels funny, Mom."

"Eww! Mom, what's wrong with my hand?"

"Don't worry, Penelope. It's just sand."

"Yuck! Get if off, Mom, quick!"

"Wait, Mom. This stuff isn't so bad. In fact, I think I like how it tastes."

"Hey, Mom?"

"Yes, Penelope."

"Look at all those big kids. What are they doing?"

"They're going down the slide, Penelope. Do you want to try?"

"I don't know, Mom. It looks kinda scary."

"You'll have to be brave, Penelope. But don't worry. Your dad will help you."

"Okay. Watch, Mom. Here I go..."

"Great job, Penelope!"

"Aw, Mom, that was nothin'. Let's do it again!"
