"One day it occurred to me that it had been many years since the world had been afforded the spectacle of a man adventurous enough to undertake a journey through Germany on foot. After much thought, I decided that I was a person fitted to furnish to mankind this spectacle. So I determined to do it. This was in March, 1878." Mark Twain, A Tramp Abroad

Week with Grandma Recap

Yesterday we said goodbye to Grandma and welcomed the Father back from his trip to Denmark. While we were sad to see Grandma go, we were excited to be reunited as a family. We had lots of stories and photos to share from our week apart. Here's a quick recap of our adventures with Grandma...

We re-celebrated Penelope's first birthday so Grandma and Grandpa could be there for it (Grandma in person and Grandpa on the computer webcam)

Penelope got to chow down on another cupcake, much to her delight,

And open some presents

Later we got to celebrate Grandma's birthday with a fancy ice cream creation, which Penelope was only too happy to help Grandma eat.

We showed Grandma all the best playgrounds in Heidelberg

Splashed in the water

And learned how to make bubbles

We visited the zoo and got up close and personal with the animals

We read lots of books

And had lots of laughs

We took a trip to Dachau in the rain

And we went to the German Alps to visit the town of Oberammergau (more on the town and real reason we went later)

We had such a fun and special week with Grandma

But we were also very glad to have Daddy back home.

  1. Loved seeing all the latest pictures. Penelope is just beautiful. I can't decide if she looks more like Joci or Jessica, but there is a family resemblance. She always looks so happy.

    Love, Gigi
